COP26: The world’s greatest chance to solve the climate crisis

There’s a lot at stake at this year’s COP26 conference, where global leaders are gathering in the world’s best chance for climate action that will secure a livable planet for future generations.

The Biden administration has made many promises, but it’s time to put words into action. The president and his Cabinet should use their full authority on public lands to dramatically cut fossil fuel development, protect biodiversity and prioritize community resilience.

These are crucial steps to tackle the climate and biodiversity crisis, considering the United States is the second-largest emitter of greenhouse gas emissions in the world, and almost a quarter of those emissions stem from fossil fuel development on public lands and waters.
